- I've got the Presario 425 too. Called Compaq (pay by the minute 900
- line) they said go into C-MOS and disable the serial port (there's two
- lines-one says port-one says modem)-do both----it worked for me. then I
- put in a new I/O card (my 425 had a 8250 UART) and ran my new Cardinal
- 28,000 through the 9 pin async serial conector and it worked the first
- time (I'm still running 3.1). Wonder what this info cost my phone bill.
- When I bought my Compaq ages ago they were a nice company. $35.00 for
- help on something they built into the unit. Last one of theirs I buy!
- But the Cardinal seems to work fine.
